A 45-year-old special education teacher has acknowledged having sexual interactions with a 15-year-old boy, reportedly after sending him around 25,000 text messages.
Allison Havemann-Niedrach, a mother of two, entered a guilty plea to one charge of aggravated sexual assault and could face a maximum of 12 years in prison. The Monmouth County, New Jersey prosecutors are also pursuing lifetime supervision along with mandatory registration as a sex offender. Her teaching credentials have been revoked as a result of the allegations.
Havemann-Niedrach, who had been employed at Freehold Intermediate School, communicated with the boy through thousands of messages in early 2024. This communication ceased only after her arrest in June of the same year. She faced initial charges that included aggravated sexual assault, child endangerment through the creation of abusive materials, and multiple counts of misconduct and sexual assault. However, as part of her plea deal, the additional charges are set to be dropped.
An investigation commenced in June 2024 after the vice principal of the school reported troubling behavior concerning Havemann-Niedrach. A coworker informed authorities that they observed her rubbing the student's back and engaging in flirtatious behavior, including touching his leg. The student had allegedly informed friends about a relationship he had with the married teacher from Jackson in Ocean County. When interrogated by police, he initially claimed he was in a relationship with the teacher’s daughter and denied any inappropriate interactions. However, investigators later discovered a significant number of messages on his phone featuring photos, videos, and recordings of sexual activity, which contradicted his previous statements. Prosecutors labeled Havemann-Niedrach as “obsessed” with the teenager.
Shortly after, the boy was taken to a police station, where he confessed to engaging in sexual activities with Havemann-Niedrach, noting that she was 30 years older than him. He indicated that their sexual relationship commenced in January 2024 and that encounters occurred both at her residence and in various hotels. Following her initial arrest, Havemann-Niedrach had been confined to her home in Jackson while she awaited trial.
Prior to the emergence of these allegations, she was viewed as a dedicated member of the local community. Having joined the staff at Freehold Intermediate in March 2022, she had been recognized by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore as one of the “Phenomenal Women Under 40” in 2017. After charges were filed, the organization severed all ties with her, declaring that she was no longer associated with them.
