Tragedy has struck Abia State University as a 200-level student, identified as Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, has died in a road accident.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, 2026, along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu, an area that has now garnered attention due to a widely shared video of the victim at the crash site.
According to Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, the accident involved an initial head-on collision between two motorcycles. The impact of this crash reportedly threw the passengers from the motorcycles onto the roadway.
Tragically, the victim, Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, was then struck by an oncoming Mack truck.
"The command is aware of the incident, which occurred at the Water Board area of Uturu on April 19, 2026. Two motorcycles were involved in a head-on collision, causing passengers to be thrown onto the road. This led to the death of Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, who was run over by a moving Mack truck,” she stated.
The PPRO further confirmed that police officers from the Motor Traffic Department were dispatched to the scene. Those who sustained injuries have been transported to a hospital and are reported to be responding to medical treatment.
Chinaka also disclosed that the body of the deceased student has been released to her family after being officially confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
Authorities have taken possession of the vehicles involved in the collision, including the two motorcycles and the Mack truck, and they have been moved to the police station for further investigation.
