The leadership of the Action Alliance has strongly condemned the unauthorised adoption of its party abbreviation by the Atiku- Amaechi Movement, describing the development as a deliberate act of identity theft designed to mislead the Nigerian electorate.
In a formal statement issued by the party's National Publicity Secretary on behalf of the National Chairman, Chief Kenneth Udeze, the political platform expressed total displeasure over the ongoing distribution of membership cards and campaign materials bearing the 'AA' acronym by the movement.
What did the party say about the acronym usage?
The Action Alliance clarified that the abbreviation 'AA' remains its exclusive, legally protected, and constitutionally recognised acronym duly certified by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The party maintained that the acronym cannot be utilised by any external political pressure group, association, or movement.
According to the leadership, the deployment of 'AA' and the phrase 'AA Movement' by the promoters of the Atiku-Amaechi coalition is calculated to create public confusion, misinform citizens, and illegally harvest the established political goodwill of the party.
What are the demands of the Action Alliance?
Emphasising that there is no formal or informal affiliation between the Action Alliance and the Atiku-Amaechi Movement, Udeze's faction issued three core demands:
- An immediate halt to the use of the 'AA' abbreviation by the movement and its promoters.
- A formal call on the electoral umpire, security formations, and the general public to disregard the circulating materials and note the alleged fraudulent practice.
- A declaration that the Action Alliance retains its autonomous status under Chief Kenneth Udeze and will pursue appropriate legal remedies to safeguard its registered name, logo, and acronym from infringement.
