Top African figures, such as former African Development Bank President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, are set to headline strategic conversations aimed at fostering a resilient, inclusive, and thriving African economy. These distinguished personalities will gather for the second edition of the Oxford Global Think Tank (OGTT) Leadership Conference, slated for November 3 in Abuja, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, financial specialists, and civil society actors to explore actionable pathways for unlocking the continent's economic capacity.
Adesina, who functions as the Executive Chairman of the Global Africa Investment Summit, has been slated to present the keynote speech, whereas Sanusi and ANAP Foundation founder Atedo Peterside will jointly chair the event. Carrying the theme "Leadership for a Prosperous Future," the summit will center on leadership decisions, structural overhauls, digital advancements, and investment prospects necessary for converting Africa's abundant resources into long-term economic expansion.
What issues will the conference address?
Aside from resource optimization, the dialogues will tackle pressing global and regional developments, such as the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, changing geopolitical landscapes, shifting demographics, and modern macroeconomic realities.
Additional high-profile attendees feature the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; Afreximbank Executive Vice President Dr. Kanayo Awani; Securities and Exchange Commission Director-General Dr. Emomotimi Agama; and Flutterwave CEO Gbenga Agboola. A media release issued by Conference Media Adviser Comrade Chris Isiguzo noted that the sessions would revolve around three core concepts: resilience, innovation, and dynamism.
How will artificial intelligence shape the summit?
A notable highlight of the gathering will be its heavy emphasis on artificial intelligence, featuring the official unveiling of a comprehensive AI report alongside an AI Virtual Centre. Furthermore, an exhibition will run concurrently to display breakthrough technologies and their capacity to accelerate African development.
According to the conveners, the assembly aims to transcend theoretical development goals by charting concrete actions and collaborations targeted at fortifying institutions, boosting productive output, and driving inclusive financial progress. “Africa’s future will be shaped by the quality of leadership and the choices its institutions and leaders make today,” the organizers emphasized.
Convened by the Oxford Global Think Tank—an independent, non-partisan research and policy dialogue organization established by Ms. Arunma Oteh—the event will take place at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, running from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will conclude with an evening cocktail reception.
