Anambra ADC Chairman Decries Slow Membership Registration Amidst Portal Issues

The Anambra State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Patrick Obianyo, has voiced concerns over the sluggish pace of the party's membership registration and revalidation exercise in the state, attributing the slow progress to significant traffic and technical glitches on the party's online portal. As of Thursday, the party had only managed to register approximately 22,000 members, falling far short of its target.

The Anambra State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Patrick Obianyo, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of the party's membership registration and revalidation activities within the state.

Obianyo shared these sentiments on Saturday during the official launch of the state chapter of the ADC Independent Campaign Council (AICC), a support group operating under the party's umbrella.

He revealed that as of the previous Thursday, the party had only succeeded in registering around 22,000 individuals in Anambra. Obianyo pointed to the slow functionality of the party's registration portal as a major impediment to the ongoing exercise.

"Just on Saturday, we mobilized a lot of people to various registration centers, but it wasn’t easy. We could only register a few people and the rest went back home disappointed.

"In fact, we resorted to taking the personal data of the people around, their names, BVN and other vital details, in the hope that we will try it in the night when traffic will be less, yet it was difficult. It was only around 12am that we were able to register some more people. That is the problem we are having now, otherwise, we are working to meet our target of 120,000 members.

"As at three days ago, only 22,000 members had been registered in Anambra. And that is a far cry from what some other states like Adamawa, even though they started earlier than us.

"Our target is an extra 100,000 registration between now and Monday. The challenge we have is that the process is not running smoothly. I think the traffic on the site is too much and the portal is becoming difficult to register people."

He proceeded to inaugurate the 10-member committee that will lead the state chapter of the AICC. Obianyo urged them to dedicate their efforts towards convincing more citizens about the necessity of replacing the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he claimed has imposed significant hardship on the populace.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of the ADC Independent Campaign Council (AICC), Chief Jaja Anthony Ibiam, exhorted the council members to diligently pursue their objectives. He stressed that allowing Nigeria to remain under the APC's governance could be detrimental to the nation's future.

Ibiam stated: "The time to reclaim our country and position it among the world's leading nations is now! Let us seize this opportunity to work towards a more promising future for ourselves, our children, and generations of Nigerians yet to come.

"We must never forget that you and I are the driving forces behind this essential change. Therefore, go forth and make it a reality!"
