The management team of actress Angela Okorie, operating under Moving Train Entertainment Limited, has publicly addressed her detainment at Suleja Correctional Centre related to supposed cybercrime activities.

Sources indicate that the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended Okorie in Lagos before her transfer to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) based in Abuja.

Filmmaker Stanley "Stanley Ontop" Ajemba confirmed the news via an Instagram post on Wednesday, noting that Okorie faced charges in court and was subsequently placed under remand.

However, Okorie's team has denied the accusations in a statement released on Thursday, shared through the Instagram account of filmmaker and actor Prince Olisa.

The management asserts that the claims leveled against the actress are groundless, maintaining that her arrest, which occurred on January 27, 2026, stemmed from a dispute with fellow industry participant Mercy Johnson.

During the police operation, Okorie’s cell phones were seized, and her domestic staff were subjected to undue stress for three hours. She was then moved to Abuja early the following day for court proceedings.

In their statement, Okorie's management acknowledged that previous disagreements with Mercy Johnson existed, but emphasized that both parties had mutually decided to avoid making disparaging remarks about each other.

"Angela Okorie has fully honored this agreement, including a public apology in accordance with the terms. She has not engaged in cyberbullying, harassment, or defamation against Mercy Johnson, either online or offline, directly or indirectly," the management asserted.

They further declared, "Angela Okorie has never made remarks publicly or privately intended to tarnish Mercy Johnson's reputation, therefore allegations of cyberbullying are firmly contested. Upon her arraignment on January 28, 2026, a court ordered her remand at the Suleja Correctional Centre while a bail application is set for hearing on January 30, 2026."

Okorie's management openly criticized her continuation of remand at the correctional facility, insisting on her innocence and confidence in the judicial process to clarify the facts.

"This custodial remand is procedural and should not be misconstrued as a conviction. Angela is cooperating fully with authorities, is in good health, and maintains access to her legal counsel. We urge fans, media, and the public to respect the due process, avoid speculation, and refrain from spreading unverified or misleading information."

They concluded by expressing gratitude for the goodwill and prayers from fans during this challenging time, promising that all updates would be disseminated through official channels.

As of the latest reports, details about the specific cyber crimes and defamation charges leading to Okorie’s arrest remain undisclosed. Previous reports indicated a prolonged and public feud between the actresses, which commenced in June 2025.

The contention unraveled when Okorie accused Johnson of feigning illness and utilizing religious language that contradicted her behavior, urging Johnson to seek forgiveness from those she had allegedly wronged.

The dispute eventually expanded to involve Regina Daniels, who engaged in a verbal spat with Okorie online, with Okorie referring to her as “dirty people” before she later issued a public apology to both Johnson and Mr. Nwoko in July 2025 after multiple online clashes, admitting to overreacting and expressing remorse for her past comments.
