This announcement signifies the commencement of activities leading up to the twelfth edition of the awards.

Entries for this year’s event opened earlier from January 11 to February 15, attracting submissions from filmmakers and content creators throughout the continent.

The awards aim to honor excellence in storytelling within Africa and will present 32 categories, which will include segments decided by juries and those voted on by audiences, in addition to lifetime achievement and trailblazer awards. The organizers emphasize that this initiative continues to showcase the advancement and international recognition of Africa’s film and television sector.

Supported by the premium brand Don Julio as the primary sponsor, the AMVCAs aim to serve as a cultural platform that appreciates creativity and craftsmanship.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos this May, with new categories anticipated to enhance the acknowledgment of content in indigenous languages. More details regarding the event will be shared in the forthcoming weeks.
