Anthony Joshua, the ex-heavyweight boxing champion, has moved his £150 million business empire from the United Kingdom to Dubai.

The British-Nigerian boxing icon has formally confirmed his residency in the United Arab Emirates via corporate filings, marking a notable transition from the UK where he established his boxing career and expanded his business interests.

According to the Daily Mail, the paperwork submitted for Joshua’s two companies, Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited, now designates the UAE as his new official residence.

This move is part of regulatory obligations that require company directors to declare their residence.

Dubai has emerged as a preferred destination for affluent athletes and business owners due to its attractive tax regulations, particularly the lack of personal income tax.

Previously, Joshua announced dividend payments of £10.1 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023, which would be generally subject to tax in the UK.

Furthermore, Joshua’s promotional company, Sparta Promotions, reported profits of £20.396 million in 2024 and paid £6.65 million in UK corporate tax for the same year.

Joshua has long maintained a close relationship with Dubai, often visiting for training, vacations, and business promotions with various brands.

The emirate’s exceptional sporting infrastructure has made it an appealing home for numerous international athletes.

His relocation aligns him with a rising number of affluent British personalities who have settled abroad, including Jim Ratcliffe, the Manchester United owner, and easyJet founder Stelios Haji Ioannou, both of whom are based in Monaco.

Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, confirmed that the move to Dubai occurred several months ago.

“He has already moved to Dubai. He doesn’t need to inform us before making such a decision, but I am aware it was done a while back, several months ago,” he stated to Punch Newspapers.

Born in Watford to Nigerian parents, Joshua gained international recognition after winning gold for Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics, later becoming a two-time heavyweight world champion.

His relocation takes place amidst ongoing tensions in the Middle East, including security considerations regarding regional conflicts tied to Iran.

This transition symbolizes a new chapter for the British Nigerian boxing star as he relocates his base and business ventures to the Middle East.
