The re-release of 'Avengers Endgame: Encore' has earned ₦93.4 million at Nigerian cinemas, pushing the film's combined gross past ₦600 million and making it the highest-grossing re-release in West Africa.

The re-release of 'Avengers Endgame: Encore' has become the highest-grossing film re-release of all time in West Africa, according to Nigerian Box Office data. The Marvel film earned ₦93.4 million at Nigerian cinemas, pushing its combined gross past the ₦600 million mark.

The re-release concluded its run on Thursday, six weeks after returning to cinemas, with a final tally of ₦93,446,448, as announced by Nigerian Box Office on X. The Film Intelligence digest by Fusion Intelligence puts the combined gross of the original release and the re-release at approximately ₦621.7 million.

The digest noted that six weeks of the seven-year-old Avengers film earned almost as much as many new releases make in their entire run, underscoring the enduring appeal of the franchise among Nigerian audiences.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian box office has grossed about ₦15.49 billion in 2026, overtaking the roughly ₦15.4 billion recorded across all of 2025. Cinemas made about ₦206.4 million from roughly 32,000 admissions in the latest week, a drop of about 15 per cent. Five new titles opened, but returning films took the top four places.

In Nollywood, 'Agbara Nla: The Return' led the chart for a fifth consecutive week with ₦39.5 million from 6,773 admissions. Its total of ₦462.2 million from 77,440 admissions has overtaken 'The Wedding Party' (₦452.3 million), making it the 10th highest-grossing Nollywood film ever. Revenue fell by just 16 per cent week on week. The film took 19.1 per cent of the week's box office with 21.1 per cent of admissions, meaning it drew a bigger share of audiences than of revenue.

'Tele X Zikora' came second with ₦34.4 million, down 17 per cent, bringing its total to ₦75.5 million. It beat 'Agbara Nla' on Friday, Monday and Tuesday for the second week running, helped by the widest release on the chart at 89 locations.

Among the new arrivals, 'Phoenix Fury' opened best with ₦10.6 million across 68 locations. 'Maybe… Maybe Not' earned ₦10.4 million from only 48 locations, about ₦193,000 per location, the highest average of any new title. With almost two months of the year left, every naira earned from now on adds to a new record for the Nigerian box office.
