A new biographical film chronicling the life and political journey of Lagos State deputy governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat premiered on Wednesday, November 4, at Silverbird Cinemas in Ikeja, drawing prominent politicians, Nollywood stars, and other personalities to the event.

The life and political career of Lagos State deputy governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat have been brought to the public eye through the premiere of a new biographical film, Hamzat, Omo Oba. The movie, produced by Ultimate Communications, made its debut on Wednesday, November 4, at Silverbird Cinemas in Alausa, Ikeja, drawing together prominent politicians, Nollywood actors, and other notable personalities in attendance.

The screening served as a celebration for the cast and crew, who gathered to honour a production that aims to document the personal life, public service, and political trajectory of one of Lagos State's most influential political figures. The event was anchored by veteran comedian and entertainer Gbenga Adeyinka, who provided a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the evening.

The film is directed by Tunde Olaoye, with Nollywood actor Seun Kentebe taking on the lead role as Hamzat. Other cast members include Toyin Alausa, who portrays Hamzat's wife, and Olarotimi Fakunle, who plays his father. Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Abiola Adebayo, Tunji Bamishigbin, and several other actors also feature in the production.

The premiere also attracted a strong political presence, including Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who serves as Director-General and Chairman of Hamzat's campaign organisation; Lagos State APC Chairman Mr Cornelius Ojelabi; and the party's Woman Leader in the state, Alhaja Rofiat Iyabosola Eletu. Additional attendees included Rasaq Ajala, Usman Hamzat, Hakeem Shittu of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources.

The entertainment industry was equally well represented, with veteran comedian Atunyota Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba, joining members of the cast and crew at the event. His presence underscored the strong crossover between politics and entertainment in the production.

With Hamzat, Omo Oba, Ultimate Communications has added another political biography to the growing body of Nigerian films that explore the lives, experiences, and contributions of prominent public figures. The production also highlights the increasing convergence of entertainment, politics, and documentary storytelling, using cinema to present the life and public service journey of a serving political leader.
