Borno Attack Foiled: Troops Eliminate 24 Insurgents, Seize Significant Arsenal

Elements of Sector 2, under Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully neutralised 24 terrorists and thwarted a concerted assault on the Kukareta community in Borno State. The violent incident began around midnight and persisted until approximately 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2026.

Following a vigorous engagement with the insurgents, the troops managed to contain the attack and inflict severe losses on the assailants. During the fierce confrontation, no fewer than 24 terrorists were eliminated.

The recovered weaponry from the neutralised insurgents included 18 AK-47 rifles, three General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), two PKT automatic anti- aircraft guns, three Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes, two mortar tubes, four hand grenades, and 18 AK-47 magazines.

Additionally, a considerable quantity of belted 7.62mm special ammunition, designated for PKT anti-aircraft weapons, was also secured.

During the operation, two soldiers sustained injuries from gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical care.

This successful defence of Kukareta has been highlighted as a major operational triumph, underscoring the troops' effectiveness and steadfastness in the ongoing campaign against insurgency in Nigeria's North-East region.
