Evangelist Mike Obinna Chieze Ikemsinachi Ikoku, a well-known entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer of All Seasons Hotel Owerri, has distributed aid to more than 1,000 residents of Imo State. This took place during a large Easter celebration in Obinocha village, situated in Nkwerre Local Government Area.
The event, held on Easter Saturday, April 4, attracted a substantial number of people, transforming what was intended as a small community gathering for Obinocha indigenes into a festive occasion.
A diverse crowd comprising children, youth, women, and men from Obinocha and its adjacent communities, including Ishe-Owerri, Owerri Nkwoji, Umudi-Umuwala, and Amaegbu, attended the celebration. Reports from attendees indicated an unprecedented turnout for the community, with additional guests arriving from neighbouring villages and a significant contingent from the All Seasons Hotel.
During his address, Ikoku explained that the gathering was organised for four primary purposes. He began by expressing profound gratitude to God for enabling him to observe another Easter, a period commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Furthermore, Ikoku took the opportunity to praise the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for his administration's achievements in economic development, infrastructure enhancement, job creation, and fostering peace throughout the state.
He specifically pointed out the ongoing road construction projects linking key areas of the state and the development of a modern flyover in Owerri, remarking that these advancements have bolstered Imo’s standing on a national level.
Ikoku also emphasized the value of returning to his roots to celebrate with his community and foster unity among its members. He clarified that he has no political aspirations for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“I am not seeking any political position. My commitment is to continue supporting the governor in his efforts to bring more development to the state,” he stated.
The centrepiece of the celebration was an extensive empowerment initiative. All attendees were treated to a generous meal, which included rice, meat, various beverages, and alcoholic drinks.
In addition, every participant received a bag of rice and monetary gifts, irrespective of whether they had been formally invited.
The residents of the community expressed their astonishment at the magnitude of the philanthropic act, noting that such a large-scale initiative had never before been witnessed in Obinocha.
Prayers were offered for the governor, his executive team, the Imo State House of Assembly, and the traditional leadership. Ikoku and his family also received special commendations for spearheading this philanthropic endeavour.
Onlookers observed that the businessman's actions demonstrated a strong dedication to community upliftment and established a significant precedent for private charitable contributions in the region.
