Li-jian Yuan, a 50-year-old Chinese national, is now in custody following his arrest in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for the alleged indecent assault and rape of a 23-year-old woman identified as Wemimo Adebowale.
Reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama state that Yuan was detained by law enforcement after a complaint was made on January 30, 2026.
Further investigations have indicated that the alleged incident occurred two days earlier, on January 28, 2026.
Yuan remains in police custody while authorities continue their investigation, and he is expected to face charges in court shortly.
Officials have promised the community that they will closely monitor the situation to ensure that justice is achieved in this case.
