Content creator Fari has raised her voice in an emotional appeal online after observing a new wave of demolitions that have uprooted several residents in Lagos.
In a heartfelt video, she described returning from her gym session only to find homes being torn down along Silverbed Road, leaving families stranded with their possessions strewn on the streets.
Victims indicated that they received no advance warning of the demolitions, which forced them to hastily relocate their belongings while security personnel allegedly deployed tear gas amidst a disagreement that ensued during the demolition process.
Numerous residents were seen sitting next to their salvaged items, unsure of their next steps. One woman, a tailor, lamented losing all her sewing equipment and household items, now left out in the open without any shelter.
Fari further noted that many affected individuals were too intimidated to document or voice their experiences, fearing that their phones might be confiscated or damaged during the operation.
She highlighted that such incidents are not uncommon during demolitions; however, they often go unnoticed as the residents involved are frightened to speak out about their predicaments.
