Professor Muhammad Inuwa Ja’afaru has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere, succeeding Professor Umaru A. Pate. The appointment follows a competitive selection process conducted by the university's governing council.

Professor Muhammad Inuwa Ja’afaru has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere in Gombe State.

The announcement was made by Professor Williams O. Aderounmu, the Pro- Chancellor and Chairman of the university’s governing council, during a session held on Tuesday in the council chamber.

Professor Ja’afaru triumphed over 19 other candidates, making him the fourth substantive vice-chancellor of the institution. He will take over from Professor Umaru A. Pate, whose term concludes on February 11, 2026.

According to Professor Aderounmu, Ja’afaru secured his position with a significant margin, demonstrating his superiority during the selection process. The decision was merit-based, reflecting his outstanding profile and qualifications.

Ja’afaru specializes in Environmental Microbiology and holds a position in the Microbiology Department at Modibbo Adama University (MAU) in Yola, Adamawa State.

Previously, he served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) at MAU, where he was instrumental in the management of administrative operations. Following the end of the previous Vice-Chancellor's tenure in June 2024, he was appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor, a role he maintained until July 2024, when he transitioned leadership to Professor Ibrahim Umar, the ninth substantive Vice-Chancellor.

Throughout his brief time in office, Ja’afaru was recognized for his effective administrative skills and leadership capabilities, notably during transitional phases.
