Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has encouraged young Nigerians to aim high and put in the hard work necessary to realize their dreams.
This encouragement was made during an event on Thursday at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where she inaugurated the Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre — a digital library established in her honor by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and digitized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Mrs. Tinubu stated that this center symbolizes a crucial step in her lifelong dedication to motivating upcoming generations to lead purposeful lives.
She remarked, “The Ooni wanted young girls to learn a bit about my journey to this point. I have always aspired to be a teacher, and I achieved that dream. But I didn’t stop there; I continued to dream, and here I stand today.
“I visualized the kind of wife and mother I envisioned becoming and ensured I allowed God to guide me.”
The First Lady expressed her belief that the newly digitized center would function as a modern hub for innovation and mentorship. It includes various facilities such as a library, digital museum, dream room, innovation hub, studio, mentorship room, and a technology garden.
“These sections amalgamate to embody the essence of dreams, creativity, and motivation as powerful catalysts for transformation and personal development. I urge our youth to utilize this center to develop and pursue their dreams without being excessively ambitious,” she commented.
Additionally, Mrs. Tinubu addressed student welfare and enhanced campus transportation by following through on her commitment made in 2024, donating 50 new shuttle buses and 40 tricycles to the university.
This contribution comes after her previous donation of ₦1 billion to the institution in October 2024, aimed at bolstering infrastructure and supporting student development.
During the event, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, emphasized that the Dream Centre is a tribute to the First Lady’s unwavering service and dedication to humanity.
“The mother of the nation has made significant contributions to humanity over the last twenty years. What was initially a simple pavilion for students has now evolved into a space dedicated to innovation where Nigerian youths can aspire to dream,” the monarch stated.
