Gombe Governor Appoints New Civil Service Head

Gombe State's Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has appointed Professor Muazu Usman Shehu as the new Head of the Civil Service. This decision follows the retirement of the former head, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has officially announced the appointment of Professor Muazu Usman Shehu as the new Head of the Civil Service for the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the governor’s press secretary, Ismaila Uba Misilli, it was revealed that the appointment is effective immediately. This announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, after the former Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, completed his tenure following his retirement after 35 years of public service.

"As a distinguished public servant and seasoned academic, Professor Shehu is expected to bring extensive administrative experience, technical skills, and a reform-driven mindset to his new role."

Prior to this appointment, Professor Shehu held the position of Permanent Secretary overseeing General Duties, as well as serving as the Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Governor. His time in these roles has been marked by notable professionalism, diligence, and outstanding ability in policy coordination and strategic management, as noted in the statement.

Governor Yahaya has urged the new Head of Civil Service to continue advancing and enhancing the current reforms within the state's public service while also promoting professionalism, discipline, and innovation across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Additionally, the governor expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Head of Civil Service for his dedicated and impactful service to the state and wished him a fulfilling and peaceful retirement.
