Governor Dauda Lawal has officially inaugurated the renovated and expanded Dr. Karima Primary Healthcare Centre located in Tudun Wada, the capital of Zamfara State, Gusau.
A spokesperson for the governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, announced that this project was undertaken under the 2025 Constituency Projects led by Hon. Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace, aimed at improving the health sector.
According to the statement, this facility has been enhanced from a 10-bed setup to accommodate 40 patients, with significant upgrades in both infrastructure and medical equipment.
During the commissioning event, Governor Lawal expressed his approval of the lawmaker’s vital role in enhancing health services, highlighting its consistency with the administration's six-point agenda.
The governor emphasized that advancements in key sectors like security, education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure are being persistently pursued, asserting that the state is progressing toward prosperity.
He elaborated that the government has embraced a comprehensive healthcare strategy that includes essential medication, preventive care, immunization, antenatal and nutritional services, along with improvements in water, sanitation, and healthcare financing. Lawal deemed the lawmaker's contributions as timely and integral.
Acknowledging the importance of primary healthcare facilities, the governor stated that they are essential for delivering initial medical services within communities, supporting the efforts of secondary and tertiary health services.
Additionally, he revealed that the lawmaker is undertaking the construction of a full ward at the Shagari Primary Healthcare Centre in Gusau and renovating three blocks at the General Hospital, Magami.
The governor further articulated that Hon. Mai Palace is also working on building around 30 classroom blocks in various secondary and primary schools across the constituency, alongside establishing a 250-capacity Computer-Based Test (CBT) center in Tsafe.
Governor Lawal praised the lawmaker and others who are supporting governmental development efforts through the establishment of significant infrastructure and empowerment programs.
Earlier, Hon. Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace expressed gratitude toward the governor for the commissioning of the improved facility, underscoring the critical role primary healthcare centers play in delivering fundamental medical services to the public. He shared that his support for the project was driven by its significance and its alignment with the governor’s developmental agenda.
