Nigerian actress Grace Charis Bassey Effah, previously known as Belinda Effa, has responded to individuals shaming her for being single, urging her to get married to avoid 'expiration.'
In her rebuttal, posted on Facebook, the 41-year-old mother of one pointed out that every person, whether married, divorced, or single, is destined to experience expiration.
Effah, who became a U.S. citizen after joining the United States Navy in 2025, addressed her critics directly.
She highlighted the absurdity behind the notion that one's worth is tied to marital status, stating, "I read where someone said I should go and get married so I don't expire. First, is it your expiration? Second, do those who are married and divorced also face expiration? Third, you know nothing about my life. Stop projecting your low self-esteem and negativity onto others. If marriage is your priority, I am genuinely happy for you. Good luck."
Her comments reflect a broader conversation about societal expectations placed on women regarding marriage and age.
Grace Charis's statement aims to empower individuals to embrace their personal choices without succumbing to societal pressures.
