Model Hailey Bieber, wife of singer Justin Bieber, has revealed details concerning a health complication she experienced prior to the birth of her son, Jack Blues. The 29-year-old founder of the skincare brand Rhode discussed the matter during an appearance on the "SHE MD" podcast, accompanied by her obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi.
Bieber explained that her pregnancy came as a surprise, particularly as her physician had previously alerted her to a condition known as a uterine septum. "So I had a septum in my uterus, and Dr. A kept saying, ‘We need to look at this and keep an eye on it before you get pregnant because it could potentially be an issue,’" she recounted.
A uterine septum is a congenital anomaly characterized by a thin wall that divides a portion of the uterus. According to medical information, this condition can elevate the risk of experiencing a miscarriage or delivering prematurely.
Dr. Aliabadi elaborated on Hailey's specific situation, describing it as moderate. She noted that this classification carried an estimated risk of miscarriage between 25% and 40%, and a risk of preterm birth ranging from 10% to 20%.
"And then she calls me, and she’s like, ‘I’m pregnant!’ And I’m like, ‘No!’" the doctor recalled during their podcast conversation.
Despite these identified risks, Hailey expressed a personal belief that the outcome would be positive. "You know what? I believe that everything’s gonna work out fine," she remembered telling her doctor.
Fortunately, her pregnancy proceeded without any significant issues.
In separate discussions, Hailey has previously characterized her labor experience as particularly challenging. In an earlier interview, she described childbirth as "the hardest thing I’ve ever done," noting that she endured hours of labor without an epidural after her water broke.
