As reported by Forbes Africa in 2025, Dataleum, a global talent accelerator, has identified skit-making as the third most lucrative entertainment industry in Nigeria, boasting a net worth that exceeds ₦50 billion (approximately $31.2 million).

Originally, the skit-making field was characterized by male dominance, with figures like Broda Shaggy and Mr Macaroni leading the pack. However, the current wave sees Nigerian women stepping into the forefront, dramatically reshaping the genre of social media comedy.

Recent trends indicate that female comedians have transitioned from peripheral roles to mainstays in producing the continent’s most engaging skit content.

Taaooma
