Pensioners in Kaduna State have voiced their appreciation for Governor Uba Sani's administration, describing him as a strong proponent of the "Renewed Hope Agenda." This sentiment stems from the governor's recent approval of N4.289 billion designated for the disbursement of gratuities, death benefits, and accrued rights for members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners.
In a formal letter of gratitude, signed by State Executive Chairman Aboman Ladan and Secretary Alhassan Balarabe Musa, the union highlighted that this significant financial release has not only brought joy to pensioners but has also rekindled their confidence in receiving outstanding entitlements.
Governor Uba Sani had, in the preceding week, sanctioned the release of the N4.289 billion specifically for retired civil servants and the dependents of deceased workers across both state and local government services.
The allocated funds are intended to cover payments under the Contributory Pension Scheme (Accrued Rights) and the Defined Benefit Scheme (Gratuities and Death Benefits), affecting a total of 1,637 beneficiaries. The breakdown indicates that N3,915,000,000 will be distributed to 1,392 pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme, while 245 beneficiaries are set to receive N374,000,000 in gratuities and death benefits.
The pensioners' union emphasized that this "timely intervention" has provided considerable relief and a renewed sense of optimism for many members who have faced prolonged waiting periods. For families who have lost loved ones, the governor's action has been instrumental in alleviating their difficulties and restoring their faith in governmental support.
"We are truly grateful for your compassion and for prioritizing the welfare of senior citizens within your administration. You are indeed an Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda," the pensioners conveyed in their letter.
However, the union also took the opportunity to remind Governor Uba Sani about certain pending liabilities, noting that some pensioners, particularly the elderly, are still awaiting their entitlements.
The letter, dated April 16, 2026, with reference number NUP/KDS/HQ/VOL 2/25, expressed strong faith in the Governor's capacity to settle all outstanding pension obligations, citing his positive disposition and proven track record.
It is noteworthy that with the recent disbursement, Governor Uba Sani has now overseen the payment of a cumulative N17.796 billion since assuming office, benefiting over 8,344 retirees and the families of deceased workers.
