Kalvia to unveil digital marketplace linking Nigerians with certified technicians and a three‑month warranty

Kalvia announced plans to launch an online platform that will connect households and businesses with vetted electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other tradespeople, offering a three‑month warranty on all jobs. The initiative also includes a vocational training programme targeting 200 learners from February 2027.

Kalvia, a Nigerian startup, disclosed at a stakeholder conference today that it will roll out a digital marketplace linking households and businesses with vetted electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other technicians, and will back each job with a three‑month warranty, aiming to raise trust and professionalism in the country’s skilled‑trade sector.

Key details of the plan include:

How will the marketplace operate?

The proposed platform will allow customers to submit a description of the problem they need solved. The system will then match the request with a technician who has the relevant certification and experience. Throughout the job, the platform will record documentation, capture customer feedback, supervise service delivery and perform quality checks to ensure compliance with Kalvia’s standards. If a repair fails within the three‑month warranty period, Kalvia will rectify the issue at no extra charge.

What training and advisory structures support the launch?

Kalvia will run a vocational training programme covering five core trades: carpentry and joinery, plumbing and pipe‑fitting, electrical installation and maintenance, HVAC maintenance, and solar PV maintenance. The curriculum will be shaped by three newly inaugurated advisory councils – a Youth Council, a Trade Experts Council and a Hiring Council – each bringing perspectives from prospective trainees, industry specialists and employers respectively.

Which partners are involved?

The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (Lagos State Employment Trust Fund) attended the event and signalled readiness to back graduates who wish to start their own businesses. The fund offers loans ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦5 million at an annual interest rate of 9 % for eligible Lagos entrepreneurs.

Kalvia plans to employ a subset of its technicians directly, enabling tighter supervision and consistent service quality. While the commercial model – including customer pricing and technician remuneration – is still being refined, the company is already engaging residential estates to generate demand ahead of the marketplace’s rollout.

The overarching ambition is to shift Nigerian perceptions of skilled work, creating sustainable career pathways for technicians and delivering reliable, insured services to consumers.
