Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has announced plans to dredge the Musawa Dam to enhance irrigation farming and stimulate commercial activities within the Musawa Local Government Area. This commitment formed a central part of his ongoing campaign engagements across the southern senatorial district of the state, where he also outlined extensive youth empowerment initiatives designed to combat restiveness in regions affected by banditry.
Speaking to enthusiastic crowds of residents and party loyalists following strategic consultations with traditional rulers, community elders, and stakeholders in Musawa and Jikamshi, the Governor emphasized his administration's dedication to grassroots development. In Jikamshi, which he noted holds personal significance, Radda connected the siting of a modern Smart School in the locality to his enduring ties with the community. Furthermore, he spotlighted ongoing government support for traditional institutions through consistent allowances for royal fathers and recognized Islamic clerics, alongside the Community Development Programme that empowers local populations to direct their own infrastructural priorities.
What did traditional leaders say about security improvements?
During a courtesy visit to the District Head of Musawa, Alhaji Sagir Abdullahi Inde, discussions centered on tangible enhancements to public safety across Musawa and adjacent districts. Governor Radda ascribed these security gains to active synergy between the state government, traditional authorities, security forces, and local residents. Echoing this assessment, the District Head commended the administration's developmental strides and security interventions, referencing a presentation by the state's internal security commissioner indicating an approximate 80 per cent reduction in security threats. The traditional ruler pledged the community's unalloyed cooperation in sustaining peace and progress.
How were empowerment benefits distributed?
The campaign stop featured major empowerment distributions, including 200 motorcycles alongside cash grants of N50,000 disbursed to 1,050 women and over 800 students drawn from Musawa and Matazu local government areas. This humanitarian and economic intervention was spearheaded by the federal lawmaker representing the Musawa/Matazu constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, widely known as Dujiman Katsina. The legislator reaffirmed his constituents' unwavering backing for the Governor and unveiled upcoming plans to distribute an additional 1,000 motorcycles, alongside relief items destined for internally displaced persons in Matazu.
Reinforcing this political momentum, the Director-General of the Tinubu–Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, characterized the massive turnout as a testament to the Council's extensive outreach across all 34 local government areas of the state. Similarly, the Katsina State APC Chairman, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, urged party faithful to preserve internal harmony fostered through consensus, while the Minister, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, appealed to citizens to uphold communal peace.
Observational reports from the venue indicated that security was jointly maintained by conventional law enforcement agencies, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, and localized vigilante units integrated into the convoy. Additionally, auxiliary youth support groups donning branded apparel were present, with sources close to the campaign noting that their deployment served as a precautionary security measure following earlier incidents reported at the launch of the campaign in the Funtua zone.
