A young individual was detained in Kebbi State following claims that he had feigned being deaf for nearly a year to covertly collect and relay information to kidnappers.
The information was shared by one Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari through a Facebook update on Monday, March 2, 2026.
Yari indicated that once the boy was apprehended, he admitted to collaborating with two other individuals to monitor residents in the Makera Gandu region of Birnin Kebbi.
The young boy disclosed that they had been instructed in sign language for communication purposes, although he hails from Niger State.
Yari cautioned the community members to remain vigilant of unfamiliar faces within their localities.
