A woman rescued from kidnappers has safely delivered twin girls at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Kogi State.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, shared this news in a statement released on Monday in Lokoja.
He mentioned that the identity of the mother would be protected for security reasons.
Fanwo stated that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the State Security Adviser alongside the Commissioner for Health to ensure that the mother and her newborns are promptly transferred to the State Specialist Hospital for comprehensive medical care and postnatal assistance.
Both the mother and babies are reportedly in stable condition.
“It should be noted that the State Government established the IDP camp as a temporary rehabilitation center where rescued kidnapping victims receive support and care until they can reintegrate with their families,” he added.
Fanwo remarked that the number of rescued individuals at the camp continues to rise due to ongoing security operations across the state.
He reiterated the government's dedication to the welfare and rehabilitation of those rescued and commended security personnel for their consistent successes in combatting crime in the region.
