Lafarge Africa Plc, renowned for its innovative and sustainable building solutions as well as for producing premium cement brands, celebrated its distinguished trade partners at the 2025 Customer & Transporter Awards on Saturday, February 21, at the Landmark Event Centre located in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The vibrant event gathered customers, transporters, and key stakeholders, including Honorable Commissioner for Housing in Lagos State, Hon. Moruf Akinderu Fatai, the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross Rivers State, as well as members of Lafarge Africa Plc's Board—Mrs. Adenike Ogunlesi, Mrs. Olusola Oworu, and Mrs. Elenda Osima-Dokubo—along with the company's management and staff, to celebrate exceptional achievements and strengthen the robust partnerships that fuel the company's expansion across Nigeria.
This annual awards ceremony, considered the pinnacle of Lafarge Africa’s commercial accolades, acknowledges the critical roles of customers and transporters who facilitate the distribution of the company’s products nationwide. The 2025 edition honored partners whose commitment, integrity, and resilience have solidified the company’s market leadership even amidst fluctuating economic conditions.
Elder Ubong Bassey Obot from Ubotex Nigeria Limited was crowned the National Volume Champion, while Igwe Cosmas Ezeumeh Chizoba of C.C. Umeh and Sons Limited and Chief Etim Effiong Okon of Batoframoje Enterprises were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. As the champion, Ubong Obot was awarded a 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser, with C.C. Umeh and Sons Limited and Batoframoje Enterprises each receiving a 2026 Toyota Prado and 2026 Toyota Fortuner, respectively.
B.I.G MultiQuest Nigeria Limited was recognized as the National Winner in the Best Transporter category, earning a 2026 Toyota Hilux. Additionally, two customers who were named National Growth Champions received 15KVA Generating Sets, and four regional champions each took home a Toyota RAV 4. Other prizes included vehicles such as the Changan CS55, GAC S3, Hyundai Creta, as well as solar inverters, 80-inch Hisense TVs, deep freezers, and more.
In his welcome address, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, the Group Managing Director/CEO of Lafarge Africa Plc, expressed sincere gratitude to the partners for their unwavering loyalty and dedication to the business.
He remarked that the narrative of Lafarge Africa’s growth is intertwined with insights, trust, and continued support from its partners. He pledged that the company would persist in enhancing its quality, innovation, and performance, driven by the strength of these partnerships.
"We are here to honor partnership. We thank our customers for collaborating with us in 2025. This year, we expanded our retail presence and prioritized customer experience. We bolstered our ready-mix division and launched several new products like Ecoplanet Elephant and Ecocrete, our low-carbon cement and concrete solutions, leveraging technology as a competitive advantage. Our achievements would not have been possible without our customers and partners," he emphasized.
Gbenga Onimowo, the Commercial Director of Lafarge Africa Plc, referred to customers and transporters as "trade champions" whose dedication and belief in the company’s offerings have helped maintain its robust market positioning.
Onimowo highlighted that the shared values and focus on growth have fostered a relationship characterized by trust, loyalty, and integrity.
"You are an essential component of our business, ensuring our products remain visible and accessible across the nation. Your efforts deserve daily recognition. This evening, we make this special acknowledgment to celebrate our victories collectively, in person. While we honor tonight's winners, we recognize that each partner present has contributed significantly to our success, and we trust this recognition will spur even greater accomplishments for the coming year," he stated.
Osaze Aghatise, the Logistics Director of Lafarge Africa Plc, also praised the transporters as pivotal links between the company and its clients, ensuring effective distribution and the nationwide availability of its innovative building solutions. He asserted that the awards are both a form of recognition and a source of motivation, encouraging partners to consistently elevate their standards.
The event included the announcement of a variety of award categories, with high-performing partners being specially acknowledged for their significant contributions. The evening was infused with celebration, networking among celebrities and notable artists, and a spirit of camaraderie, epitomizing the collaborative ethos that characterizes Lafarge Africa’s relations with its trade partners.
