Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a group of individuals featured in a viral video engaging in disruptive behaviour with machetes in the Lekki district. The video, which circulated widely on social media, had caused apprehension among motorists and residents navigating the area.
In response to the public outcry and the unsettling footage, Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, confirmed that arrests had been made.
Wahab, via a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) platform, detailed the Commissioner of Police's immediate actions. A rapid investigation was launched, culminating in a sting operation conducted across the Lekki axis, specifically between Chisco and Osakpa bus stops. This operation successfully led to the identification and apprehension of several suspects involved in the incident.
The Commissioner of Police has issued a guarantee to all law-abiding citizens, assuring them that the safety of their lives and properties remains a top priority and is fully protected under his leadership.
