The Active Circle, in partnership with contemporary fashion label Zephans & Co., recently hosted a pink-themed wellness gathering in Lagos to mark the conclusion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month through fitness and health education.

What took place at The Girls’ Club event?

Referred to as The Girls’ Club, the morning gathering brought women together for a beginner-friendly Pilates session led by instructor Dammy Olufowobi. Attendees wore pink-themed attire, turning the fitness studio into an engaging environment focused on wellness and community connection.

Why was the health session significant?

A central feature of the morning was an intimate breast health conversation led by oncologist Dr. Omolola Salako. Known professionally as The People’s Oncologist, Dr. Salako emphasized the importance of early detection, regular self-examinations, and proactive health habits.

Chisom Okuguni, the convener of The Active Circle, noted that the initiative aimed to provide women with the knowledge and community backing necessary to prioritize their well-being continuously. Supported by media partners, the event underscored the intersection of community, physical movement, and preventative healthcare.
