A High Court in Ghana has sentenced a serial murderer to life imprisonment after he confessed to multiple killings in the Upper West and Savannah regions.
The court delivered the ruling on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, to Shariff Abdulai, also known as "Cristos," for the murder of Issah Yahaya among 22 other victims.
This information was made public by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Upper West Region.
As per the statement released, Abdulai admitted to killing 16 individuals in Wa, five in Bole, and one each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.
The police reported that Abdulai was apprehended on October 6, 2025, after meticulous intelligence and investigative operations.
Following his arrest, he was brought before the High Court in Wa on March 4, 2026, after preliminary proceedings at the District Magistrate Court.
Accompanied by legal counsel, Abdulai entered a guilty plea to the charges against him.
Based on his plea, Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi, the presiding judge, condemned him to life imprisonment with hard labor.
The statement further revealed that Abdulai will serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
The Regional Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to enforcing the law and assured the public of its continued efforts to maintain safety for all citizens adhering to the law.
