Pratt & Whitney Canada has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Nouaceur’s Midparc industrial zone, reinforcing its presence in Morocco as the nation continues to attract significant investments in the aerospace sector.
The 130,000-square-foot plant is set to produce detailed static and structural machined components for aircraft engines, including the widely recognized PT6 engine series. The company anticipates the creation of around 200 employment opportunities by the year 2030.
This development occurs amid a surge in global demand for aircraft engines, compelling manufacturers to enhance the resilience of their supply chains. Pratt & Whitney Canada, a subsidiary of RTX, has stated that the new facility will function as an integral part of its worldwide production network.
“This site represents a strategic extension of our global production network,” stated Maria Della Posta, the company’s president, highlighting efforts to bolster supply chain robustness and meet escalating customer demand.
Construction of the plant commenced in 2024 and was completed in less than two years, progressing swiftly from initial groundwork to operational status. The project involved recruiting and training local personnel, as well as installing advanced machining equipment. The facility operates utilizing lean manufacturing principles and digital systems aimed at optimizing efficiency while upholding stringent quality standards.
The expansion builds upon RTX's existing footprint in Morocco, where its subsidiary Collins Aerospace has been active since 2012, manufacturing cockpit systems and flight controls. Collectively, these two operations now provide employment for approximately 250 individuals in the region.
Morocco’s aerospace industry has experienced consistent growth, with annual expansion rates ranging between 15% and 20% over the past decade. The sector currently comprises over 140 companies, employs more than 20,000 individuals, and generates upwards of $2.5 billion in annual exports, establishing it as one of the country’s most vibrant industrial domains.
Industrial zones such as Midparc Casablanca have played a crucial role in this expansion, successfully drawing in global manufacturers and suppliers. Collaborative efforts with major firms like Boeing and Safran have facilitated the development of a local industrial ecosystem, with production capabilities extending beyond basic assembly to include high-precision components that are integrated into global supply chains.
Furthermore, Morocco has made substantial investments in workforce development to support the sustained growth of the aerospace sector. Educational institutions like the Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique are instrumental in training skilled technicians, while industry events such as the Marrakech Air Show have enhanced the nation's standing as an emerging hub for aerospace activities.
