This represents the second grid failure in merely a week, with the initial collapse occurring last Friday, January 23.

An examination of the Nigerian Independent System Operator's (NISO) website revealed that all distribution companies (Discos) were not allocated any electricity supply.

As of the time of Tuesday’s collapse, the Delta Gas Power Plant was the sole facility generating power, contributing just 39 megawatts to the national grid, while all other Discos were without allocations.

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) provided insights indicating that the grid's failure stemmed from simultaneous tripping of several 330kV transmission lines, coupled with the disconnection of certain generating units tied to the grid.
