Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has advised the United States to proceed with caution in the renewed nuclear negotiations with Iran, expressing concerns that Tehran is unlikely to adhere to any potential agreements reached.

Netanyahu articulated his position during a discussion on Tuesday with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, coinciding with a surge in diplomatic efforts aimed at revitalizing talks concerning Iran’s nuclear agenda.

A statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister’s office indicated that Netanyahu emphasized Iran’s prolonged history of not fulfilling its obligations.

"He clearly stated his belief that Iran has consistently demonstrated that it cannot be trusted to keep its word," the statement conveyed.

Sources within the Israeli government confirmed that the meeting also saw participation from key officials including David Barnea, head of Israel’s intelligence agency, Defence Minister Israel Katz, and military chief Eyal Zamir.

These fresh discussions emerge as both Iran and the United States prepare to reconvene in Turkey. U.S. President Donald Trump has cautioned that failure to secure a deal could result in serious consequences.

Previously, Iranian sources disclosed that the U.S. is advocating three key preconditions for any progress: a complete halt to uranium enrichment, limitations on Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, and a cessation of Tehran’s backing for regional proxy groups. These demands align closely with longstanding Israeli positions.

Tehran has consistently dismissed these three stipulations, characterizing them as infringements on its sovereignty. Nevertheless, Iranian authorities have indicated that restrictions on ballistic missile capabilities may pose a more significant challenge than those related to uranium enrichment.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran remain acute, with the U.S. bolstering its military deployment in the Middle East. The recent positioning of an aircraft carrier along with supporting ships has escalated fears of a potential military confrontation should diplomatic efforts falter.

The already strained relations have been exacerbated by Iran’s violent suppression of recent protests, which human rights organizations report have resulted in thousands of fatalities. Iranian officials have attributed the disturbances to armed groups allegedly supported by both Israel and the United States.
