Newborn Left Unattended in Ondo Community

An infant was discovered alone on Power Line street in Ore, the administrative center of Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State.

The baby, whose identity remains unknown, was found by bystanders on Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2026.

Witnesses revealed to Hope Newspaper that an unidentified individual allegedly left the baby at the location around 1 p.m. and promptly departed the scene.

"The child was seen lying helplessly before compassionate locals intervened to ensure the baby's safety while they contacted the relevant authorities," stated one witness.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, described the occurrence as unsettling, noting that the local community expressed deep sorrow regarding the incident.

The situation was subsequently reported to the police, who responded to evaluate the circumstances surrounding the abandoned child.

A police official in Ore confirmed the event, asserting that the case had been reported to security personnel for further action.
