Troops of Operation Hadin Kai in northeastern Nigeria have neutralized four high-ranking commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province, including two Arab fighters, during a joint air and ground offensive in Kukawa, Borno State.

Operatives of the joint military task force, Operation Hadin Kai, successfully neutralized four high-ranking commanders belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a coordinated combat operation in Kukawa, Borno State. The decisive raid, which commenced on October 31, combined aerial bombardments with intense ground engagements to dismantle insurgent leadership cells in the region.

Disclosing the outcome in a media briefing, Captain Mohammed Goni, spokesperson for the military formation, confirmed that the casualties included two prominent Arab mercenaries alongside key insurgent strategists. Among those identified were Abu Hajara, a senior member of the terrorist group's decision-making Shura Council, and Abu Walid, known to be a close associate of the wanted ISWAP governor, Ba Shuwa. Numerous foot soldiers were also eliminated during the exchange of gunfire.

What weapons and equipment were recovered from the insurgents?

During the mopping-up operations that followed the engagement, military personnel recovered an assortment of high-caliber weaponry and critical communication gadgets. Captain Goni emphasized that the latest battlefield breakthrough underscores the unwavering resolve of the joint task force to maintain relentless pressure on insurgent networks operating across the North- East theater.

How does this operation compare to recent military victories?

This offensive builds on a recent tactical success recorded in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, where military forces successfully repelled an aggressive insurgent raid. That engagement resulted in the neutralization of roughly 55 fighters, including notable commanders such as Ali Gajiri, also known as Munzir, Habu Faruk, and Commander Gogore. The assault, which specifically targeted the North East Theatre Training School, tragically claimed the life of one soldier while leaving two others with varying degrees of injuries.
