A Nigerian woman, Chidinma Chukwu, has shared her heartbreaking story of being expelled from her home at midnight while seven months pregnant after refusing her partner's sexual advances.
Chukwu, a mother of one, described how she found herself without a place to go, forced to remain outside until dawn, all while clutching her belly and weeping.
She recalled that night as one of the most painful moments in her life, baffled that a man could show such cruelty towards a woman expecting his child.
"That night is etched in my memory. It was precisely midnight. I was heavily pregnant, fatigued, and lying happily after a long day," she recounted.
Suddenly, she was awakened from her slumber. "I opened my eyes slowly, feeling disoriented and weak. He made a demand, but I was too exhausted and told him no with a gentle voice. I never anticipated that such a simple response would transform my night into a nightmare."
Before she could fully grasp what transpired, she was pushed out of their home.
"The night air hit my skin as I stood there with my large pregnant belly, astonished and trembling. The last thing I heard him say was: 'Since you won’t do it, sleep outside.' That was it. I was seven months pregnant, left outside in the dead of night, with nowhere to turn."
She spent the night outdoors, silently sobbing as she held her belly, questioning how someone could act so heartlessly towards a woman bearing his child.
"That night, I felt not just the cold of the air but also the chill of a shattered heart, forever changing my narrative," she added in her emotional message.
