Olatunji Disu, the Inspector General of Police in Nigeria, has indicated that law enforcement agencies are vigilantly observing global dynamics associated with the Middle East as protests in support of Iran gain traction nationwide.

Disu noted that the surveillance of international occurrences is part of a wider strategy for intelligence-led policing, especially considering Nigeria's multifaceted Islamic communities, some of which hold ideological connections to the Middle East region.

"We keep an eye on global happenings as a key component of our intelligence- driven policing approach. It is important to recognize that Nigeria contains various Islamic groups, some of which align themselves with ideologies from the Middle East. We have undertaken appropriate measures; officers are actively patrolling, and we are calling on protesters to maintain law and order," stated the police chief.

The IGP emphasized that adequate surveillance and proactive measures have been instituted to mitigate any potential repercussions stemming from the geopolitical unrest. He highlighted that while the right to peaceful protests is acknowledged, security forces will act decisively against any disturbances or actions that threaten public safety.
