Nigerian hip-hop artiste Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has asserted that certain musicians in the country's entertainment sector utilize occult practices to achieve mainstream success. The prominent Afrobeats singer made these remarks during an appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, highlighting the immense difficulty of creating a commercially successful track.
How difficult is it to secure a hit song in Nigeria?
According to Odumodublvck, breaking into the charts is an arduous endeavor that many performers struggle with throughout their entire careers. He explained that this frustration sometimes drives individuals to seek supernatural means.
"Getting a hit song is not easy. Sometimes people even do jazz to get one. That is why you see some artists crashing out when they struggle to get a hit," Odumodublvck stated during the interview.
Why does the rapper praise Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido?
Amidst his commentary on industry pressures, the rapper expressed deep admiration for Nigeria's top-tier musical exports. He credited Grammy-winning acts Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido for their remarkable longevity and continuous output of chart-topping records.
"Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido have been dropping hit songs consistently for years. You have to respect that. Some artistes never get a hit song throughout their careers," he added.
