Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will miss the two-match Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Tanzania due to a knee injury sustained during a Champions League match against Stuttgart.

Victor Osimhen will miss Nigeria's two-match Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania because of an injury. The Turkish champions Galatasaray confirmed on Friday that the 27-year-old striker will undergo knee surgery on Saturday. Osimhen picked up the injury during the UEFA Champions League home clash against Bundesliga club Stuttgart on Tuesday. The forward has been dropped from Galatasaray's matchday squad for Saturday's league fixture against Amedspor, and is expected to be sidelined for some time.

The Super Eagles will host the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in an AFCON 2027 qualifying matchday three encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13. The reverse fixture will take place four days later at the Dar es Salaam Stadium in Tanzania. Osimhen's absence means Nigeria will have to find another striker to lead the attack ahead of these crucial qualifiers.
