Political leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have thrown their support behind Senator Sharafadeen Alli, endorsing him as the party’s chosen candidate for the governorship race.
Alli, who currently serves as the senator for Oyo South Senatorial District, received this backing from APC leaders hailing from the Ibarapa region. They pointed to his established leadership qualities and broad appeal among the electorate as key reasons for their decision.
The endorsement materialized during a well-attended gathering of party stakeholders. This meeting served as a consultative visit for Senator Alli, who was engaging with party faithful in the Ibarapa zone.
Prominent figures present at the event included Chief Alarape Jolaoso, Apostle Zacchaeus Aderounmu, Chief Dayo Adeola, Chief T.A Adenrele, Chief Francis Babalola, and Alhaji Olayide Abas. The leadership of the party at the local government level was also represented, with all three zonal party chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, and executive members from the three local councils in the zone in attendance.
During the meeting, which was overseen by the leading APC figure in Ibarapa, Chief Alarape Jolaoso, party elders, leaders, and grassroots mobilizers expressed strong confidence in Senator Alli's ability to guide the state towards comprehensive development.
Chief Jolaoso, speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, highlighted Senator Alli’s consistent performance in public service and his deep connection with the people at the grassroots. He stated that these factors make Alli the most suitable individual to lead the APC to electoral success in 2027.
Jolaoso further explained that the decision to support the senator was the outcome of extensive consultations held across the three local government areas within the Ibarapa zone. He emphasized the zone's unified stance and commitment to backing a candidate described as "credible and experienced."
In his remarks, Senator Alli conveyed his deep appreciation for the significant show of support from the people and leaders of Ibarapa. He pledged that their confidence would be respected and not taken lightly.
He committed to fostering an inclusive administration focused on advancing development across all regions of Oyo State, ensuring that every community benefits from the governance process.
