A female passenger has reportedly died during a lengthy 17-hour flight originating from New York. The aircraft's crew made significant efforts to provide medical assistance to the passenger in distress. Despite their interventions, the woman unfortunately passed away before the plane reached its destination.
Upon the flight's arrival in New Zealand, emergency responders were present on the tarmac to attend to the situation. A spokesperson for Qantas confirmed the incident, stating that "urgent assistance was provided by crew and doctors onboard but sadly they passed away." The airline representative added that "in line with standard procedure, emergency services met the aircraft as part of the response."
The airline expressed its sincere condolences to the deceased passenger's family and friends. This incident follows a similar event approximately one month prior, where a passenger on a British Airways flight died in the air and remained in the galley for an extended period after landing. That passenger, reportedly in her 60s, died an hour after the flight departed from Hong Kong on March 15.
