Operatives attached to the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State successfully thwarted a midnight robbery operation in Ota, neutralizing one armed suspect, recovering two vehicles, and retrieving an assortment of stolen goods during an early morning exchange of gunfire on Sunday.
According to official police reports, the operation was executed by officers from the Onipanu Division under the Ota Area Command following a distress call received around 1:45 am at Ijaba, Iyesi, Ota.

Responding swiftly to the emergency alert, a tactical patrol team arrived at the scene. Upon noticing the arrival of law enforcement, the armed hoodlums initiated gunfire, leading to a fierce tactical duel.
"The ensuing exchange of gunfire resulted in the neutralisation of one suspect, while other gang members fled with suspected gunshot injuries," stated the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babasheyi.
What items were recovered from the scene?
A thorough sweep of the area after the shootout yielded two vehicles—a Nissan Almera and a Toyota Camry—alongside numerous looted valuables. The recovered property included HP and Dell laptops, a PlayStation console, four mobile phones, a Samsung television, a standing fan, a rechargeable radio, a Wi-Fi router, clothing, and an OPay ATM card.
Additionally, security personnel retrieved a locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, seven expended shells, a Tecno smartphone, three passport photographs, an MTN SIM pack, two National Identification Number (NIN) cards, and an undisclosed sum of cash from the deceased suspect.
