Reno Omokri, who is set to take up an ambassadorial role, claims that Nigeria's security situation has seen considerable enhancement over the last decade.
During an appearance on Channels TV on March 4, Omokri discussed the improvements compared to the security challenges faced in 2016. He highlighted that in the previous year, many people visited Nigeria for festivities without reports of robbery or insecurity incidents.
He remarked, "In 2016, we were the third most terrorized country globally. Now we don’t even make it into the top five. Last December, Lagos welcomed 1.2 million tourists, and there was not a single robbery or significant incident reported. Nobody was harmed. In February, at the Argungu fishing festival in Kebbi, we had 50,000 fishermen and 500,000 attendees, and not one person was killed, nor was there any major incident. Similarly, during the Ojude Oba festival in June, 200,000 visitors from across the globe attended, and there were no casualties. We do have localized security issues, but overall, Nigeria is much better off than it was a decade ago."
