Roby Ekpo has publicly responded to a cease-and-desist notice and subsequent demands issued by his ex-wife's legal team. The notice reportedly called for Ekpo to halt alleged defamatory statements about Mayowa Lambe, coupled with a demand for an apology and N100 million in damages.
In a counter-response conveyed by his own legal counsel, Ekpo has indicated his refusal to comply with the demands made by Lambe's lawyers. He has asserted his preparedness to address the dispute before a judicial body.
A statement from Roby Ekpo's lawyers indicated: "Our Client will not accede to your demands presently constituted. Our Client is prepared to join issues with your client before a court of competent jurisdiction, where all claims, counterclaims, and evidence will be properly examined."
The statement further added, "Should your client proceed with legal action, our client will robustly defend the suit and reserve the right to file appropriate counterclaims, including, but not limited to, claims for harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm arising from false or exaggerated accusations."
Ekpo's legal team also noted that the letter from Lambe's lawyers contains an admission of some of his claims. They reserved the right to utilize this in evidence before relevant US government authorities, including the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Additionally, Ekpo reserves the right to pursue necessary legal remedies to safeguard his interests.
