Senator Ned Nwoko on Monday called on the public to grant Nollywood actress Regina Daniels the privacy and support she needs to recuperate, warning that circulating false reports about her health and supposed death are causing unnecessary anguish.
He addressed Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and online commentators, noting that speculation about her personal circumstances has become harmful. Nwoko highlighted that the actress’s children are being well cared for and that compassion, rather than gossip, is what she requires at this time.
"Regina has endured more than many realise, and what she needs now is love, support and the chance to heal," the senator wrote, emphasizing the emotional toll of the rumors.
Nwoko referred to a video Regina posted on her 25th birthday in October, where she appeared in a wheelchair discussing ongoing health challenges. He said the clip offered a genuine glimpse into her condition and should not be exploited for judgment or further distress.
The senator expressed particular alarm over fabricated death announcements and misleading stories spreading across social media platforms. "Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery, rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying," he said.
He urged supporters to refrain from amplifying such content and warned that anyone found deliberately circulating false information about Regina’s health or alleged death would be pursued through legal channels. Nwoko pledged to document the offending publications and hold responsible parties accountable.
Finally, Nwoko appealed for respect of Regina’s privacy, asking the public to allow her the time and space needed to focus on her healing, cautioning that continued speculation would only worsen an already difficult situation.
Senator Ned Nwoko and the broader Nollywood community hope the actress can recover without further media intrusion.
