The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has disclosed that it will be conducting a two-day maintenance operation at the Zungeru Transmission Substation located in Niger State, which may result in temporary power outages in specific regions.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager for Public Affairs at TCN, indicated that the maintenance is set to take place on February 18 and 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.
The maintenance work will focus on a 150MVA 330/132/33kV transformer, a 5.5MVA 33/11kV transformer, along with related switchgear at the site.
The company assured that electricity supply will largely remain consistent throughout the maintenance duration, as power loads will be transferred to a secondary 150MVA transformer situated within the same substation.
Consequently, customers linked to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company and the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, particularly those utilizing the transformer under maintenance, will continue to have access to electricity.
However, TCN acknowledged that residents in Kontagora, Tegina, Yauri, and nearby communities might face short-lived power cuts during the load shifting process.
Mbah mentioned that this planned maintenance forms part of TCN's routine practices aimed at ensuring that the equipment at the substation operates efficiently and remains effective over the long term. The company encouraged individuals and businesses within the impacted areas to prepare accordingly.
