Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, the coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for the President in the Federal Capital Territory, has lauded the administration of President Bola Tinubu as a historic turning point for the nation's capital. Speaking on Saturday during a major stakeholder assembly at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, Candido asserted that the current federal administration has successfully brought governance and tangible democratic dividends closer to local residents than any previous government.
The large political gathering drew traditional rulers, area council chairmen, key political stakeholders, and various community members from across the territory. During the event, participants formally endorsed President Tinubu for a prospective second term in office. Alongside the presidential endorsement, the assembly backed former lawmaker Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda for the territory's senatorial seat, Hon. John Gabaya for the Abuja North Federal Constituency, and former Kwali Area Council Chairman Danladi Chiya for the Abuja South Federal Constituency.
What did Hon. Candido say about the FCT administration?
Expressing strong gratitude toward the leadership of the FCT administration, Candido emphasized that local communities—including the Gbagyi, Gana-Gana, Bwari, Koro, Gade, and Bassa peoples—are finally experiencing meaningful representation and government attention. He warned residents against taking ongoing infrastructural and social interventions for granted, stating that the territory has never experienced such high-level focus from the central government.
"We have never had it so good," Candido remarked, urging constituents to rally behind the administration and avoid political ingratitude. He also cautioned political leaders to be vigilant against deceptive actors within their ranks, encouraging stakeholders to differentiate between genuine supporters and clandestine saboteurs.
Why was Senator Philip Aduda endorsed?
Reflecting on legislative representation in the capital, Candido singled out Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda for high praise. He described Aduda as the finest lawmaker the territory has ever produced, citing his legislative track record as superior to those of both past resident and indigenous senators who previously held the office.
Furthermore, drawing from his own past experience as the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Candido advocated strongly for ethnic inclusivity in governance. He noted that during his tenure, he purposely appointed individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba communities, to high-ranking positions within the council to ensure equitable representation.
In closing, the Renewed Hope coordinator expressed absolute optimism regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) prospects, declaring his firm belief that the ruling party will secure a resounding victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections across the capital territory.
