In a devastating event, two students from the Government Secondary School (GSS) located in Yangoji, within the Kwali Area of the Federal Capital Territory, were tragically killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle.
According to an eyewitness who recounted the incident to Daily Trust on Friday, March 27, the accident took place on Tuesday at approximately 2:54 PM. A Toyota Lexus SUV bearing the registration number PJHR 943 was travelling at a high velocity when it unexpectedly collided with the two students, who were returning home following school dismissal.
The witness further elaborated that the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal impact with the students, whose names are still unknown.
Additionally, two other students suffered injuries during this unfortunate incident.
An official from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed the occurrence of the accident. The official indicated that the driver veered off the road while speeding, crashing into the students as they walked home.
He reported that the bodies of the two deceased students were subsequently returned to their families for burial, while the injured students were transported to Kwali General Hospital for medical assistance.
Moreover, the FRSC representative mentioned that both the driver and the vehicle involved in the incident have been turned over to the Kwali Police Division for additional inquiry.
