Two Women Arrested by Anambra Police in Connection with Missing 16-Year-Old

The Anambra State Police have taken into custody two women linked to the case of a missing 16-year-old girl, Oluebube Chukwuma, believed to have been taken to Ghana. The suspects admitted their involvement during interrogation.

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two women in relation to the disappearance of 16-year-old Oluebube Chukwuma, who went missing in Ozubulu, situated in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the police command, announced this in a statement released on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The arrested individuals, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, allegedly confessed that the missing teenager is currently in Ghana.

The statement detailed that Anambra State Police operatives from the Ozubulu Division acted on technological intelligence on the evening of January 26, 2026, leading to the arrest of the two females concerning the case of Miss Oluebube Chukwuma's disappearance.

“During questioning, both suspects acknowledged their role in the girl's disappearance and informed law enforcement officials that she is presently in Ghana,” the statement noted.

In light of these developments, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the suspects' immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a thorough and detailed inquiry to clarify the circumstances surrounding the victim's relocation and to identify any other potential accomplices involved.

Police officials have promised to provide further information as the investigation unfolds.
