The Zamfara State Government has begun the registration of more underage children, women, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities into its complimentary healthcare service framework.

This initiative was announced during recent advocacy outreach programs at the Emirate Councils of Bukuyyum and Gummi conducted by representatives of the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZSCHMA).

At these gatherings, Dr. Iliyasu Ahmad Saleh, the Executive Secretary of the agency, stated that the initiative focuses on underage children, nursing mothers, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities across various wards in the two emirate councils.

He reiterated the agency’s dedication to advancing the health policy of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration, which aims to enhance access to quality healthcare services for all state residents.

Dr. Saleh pointed out that following the governor's declaration of a health emergency, the agency has intensified collaboration with pertinent stakeholders to achieve its goals.

He also called on district leaders to monitor the financial resources allocated to medical facilities closely, particularly regarding drug procurement and hospital infrastructure upkeep.

Abdulsamad Kaura, the agency's Director of ICT, informed that each ward would receive 400 enrollment forms for distribution among the intended beneficiaries.

He further mentioned that having a National Identification Number (NIN) stands as a crucial requirement for enrollment in the scheme.

According to Nasiru Tukur Limatawa, the state's free healthcare services spokesperson, beneficiaries in each ward will consist of 150 pregnant women, 150 women between the ages of 14 to 49, 50 children under five years, 25 elderly persons aged 65 and above, and 25 individuals with disabilities.

In their comments, the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan, and the Sarkin Dakkon Bukuyyum, Alhaji Muhammad Usman, represented by the Bukuyyum Emirate Council Secretary, praised the state government for introducing timely developmental and intervention programs that have positively affected residents.

They encouraged the community to continue supporting and praying for the success of the current administration, especially in fulfilling its human capital development aspirations.
